Three Society for Professional Journalists 2010 Northwest Excellence in Journalism awards; first place for online video for “Voices from the Street”; first place for online special report/enterprise for “Generation Homeless”; third place for an online graphic or interactive resource for “Homeless Students by School District (a map)." Nominated for a Northwest Emmy for "Lifesaving Drugs, Deadly Consequences" (with KCTS). “Lifesaving Drugs, Deadly Consequences” received second place, nationally in the National Association of Healthcare Journalists annual award for excellence in medical coverage. Special recognition from Portland’s Bruce Baer Awards judges for a series of articles focusing on sexual assault on college campuses. InvestigateWest's work was cited directly by lawmakers who sponsored the legislation; legislation: Stories on the dangers of chemotherapy resulted in the passage of two laws — one improving worker safety  and the other creating an occupational cancer registry; stories on toxic pavement sealants resulted in legislation that made Washington the first state in the nation to ban their use.
